- Many Husky owners want to play to look into float flying with their airplanes. From owners and experienced seaplane pilots input, we can tell you there is NO current production airplane that can do what a Husky can do on (or off) the water. Wipline and PK Floats both offer aluminum floats for the Husky A-1C.
|
Tire Options:
- Aviat now offers a very attractive exchange price for 26" Tundra tires (which we recommend) vs. the standard 8.50 tires.
For those who wish to play out in the rocks, sand and mud, the 29" and 31" Alaska Bushwheel options are available with either the oversized Alaska Bushwheel tailwheel or gigantic Scott tailwheel.
|
Other Options:
- There are a huge number of options available for the Husky, including pitot heat, autopilots, airbag restraint systems, extra antennas (for field radio installations), a glider/banner tow hook, landing gear for skis and way more!
|
- All new Huskies come with our famous Teak and Holly "boat deck" floor, along with epoxy painted (no hard-to-repair powdercoat for us) tubing and instrument panels. Oregon Aero seat cushion foam is standard with black fabric finish. Optional leather seats and stick surrounds are available in many different colors to match or contrast with your new airplane.
|
- There are now 25 different no-charge paint schemes available in 2009, along with 12 different major/minor colors and two metalflake colors. If none suit your fancy, you can design your own paint scheme and colors and have your new Husky painted exactly how you want it- school colors, match your corporate jet, your fighter plane, whatever suits your fancy. The Husky is painted in a state-of-the-art downdraft paint booth with meticulous care. New owners are stunned at the quality of fit and finish for a "utility" type aircraft. See the Aviat Aircraft.com website to view the different paint schemes and colors and use the interactive color planner to paint your own.

- A better Husky for 2009! Improvements include a new door that's 11 ½" wider in front for easier pilot entry and exit, a lockable, T-handle exterior door knob, vernier mixture control knob, standard 406 Mhz ELT, the JPI EDM 930 Color Engine Instrumentation Display on all Garmin 430W and 530W packages and the big news- the Garmin G600 panel tied to a Garmin 430W is now an option on both the 180 and 200HP Huskies!
Two other significant changes (esp. for tall pilots) is that the G600 panel offers over ½" extra knee clearance under the panel and there are almost 2 FULL INCHES of extra knee room under the prop and mixture controls. If you're long of leg, you should check out how much more comfortable and roomy this makes the airplane.
Update! Garmin announced at Oshkosh that all G600 Huskies will have Synthetic Vision (SVT) at no Extra Charge!
2nd Update! Aviat announced that it will be moving from the G600 panel to the G500 panel, once the FAA approves the installation. There is no functional difference as installed in the Husky, but once that occurs the SVT will become a $5,000 option versus being Free as it is now. Aviat also announced that prices will be the same for the G500 (sans SVT) as the G600 package has been at $59,879.
The 180HP Husky has been in production since 1986, first as the A-1 (1800 lb. GTOW), A-1A (1890 lb. GTOW, A-1B (2000 lb. GTOW) and now the A-1C with a 2200 lb GTOW. Typical useful loads for a 180HP Husky are 800-850 lbs depending on equipment, colors and propeller choice.
The 200HP fuel-injected Husky came out in mid-2005 as an A-1B. Because the engine is slightly heavier than the 180HP (it has more accessories, a counterbalanced crankshaft and is physically larger), it weighs approximately 40 lbs. more empty. Most 200HP owners would tell you that it's a small price to pay for such stunning performance!
McCreery Aviation has been associated with Aviat Aircraft as a Husky dealer since 2002. We started with just Texas to see if it was all it was supposed to be- and it was. We expanded our territory to Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana in 2005 and expanded again in 2007 to include Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi in our area of responsibility. In 2008 we delivered eleven new Huskies to proud (and happy) owners throughout most of those states. McCreery Aviation is a Husky Service Center and also offers a full-service avionics shop for after-sale installations.
We work closely with IFR Flight Training based at Georgetown Texas for our Husky transition and tailwheel endorsements. IFR has a Husky available for rental (dual only), so you can try before you buy. You can reach IFR Flight Training by contacting Mark Wilson at (512) 252-2211. No one is more concerned with making sure that flying your new Husky is nothing but fun than we are!
If you really want to know about the Aviat Husky, ask the man who owns one. Many of our owners have another aircraft in addition to their Husky- often a fast single or twin-engine piston, a turboprop or even a jet that they fly themselves. We are very proud of the fact that so many would rather fly their Husky than their "go-fast" airplane!
My name is Jim Taylor and I've been with McCreery Aviation since 1994 as Sales Manager. With over 8,000 hours total time and 1,500 hours in Huskies, I can tell you that any day spent in a Husky is a good day. I am responsible for all aspects of the Husky ownership experience, from getting you the necessary preliminary information you need, to showing your around the aircraft and being there with you on a flight that will show you all the aspects of the Husky that you want to see. We'll put together the right combination of options and avionics to make the airplane truly yours, meet you at the factory and get you comfortable in your new airplane- even flying it home with you or to wherever your checkout will take place.
