This aircraft is a former Navy R4D-5. Bureau No. 17135. The last military service was assignment to the Naval Arctic Research Laboratory at Point Barrow, Alaska.  Aircraft was converted by Northern Air Cargo in 1982 to DC-3C  configuration and operated by various FAR Part 135 operators until 2002. All Part 135 records are complete and most components have good times remaining.

 

The aircraft has been undergoing  an extensive (Inspect and Repair as Necessary inspection).

 

The airframe has been  given a thorough corrosion control program: all surface corrosion has been removed, the surface prepped with acid etch and alodyne, and primed with epoxy primer. Internal surfaces had been additionally treated with LPS-3, or, CorrosionX inhibitors. The engine cowlings are overhauled- the elevators recovered and , and both engines have new hoses with fire shielding and overhauled exhaust. All work was done in compliance with maintaining the FAR 135 standards. It will be a good, sound airframe with the expectancy of reliable operation.

 

Airframe: 21,590+/- hours Total Time

Engines: P&W R1830-94  Left: 100 hrs TSOH Right: 360 hrs TSOH

Propellers: one (1) hour SOH. with a 60 months re-inspection cycle.

Full Deice plumbing remains installed-

Cargo door, liner and smoke detector. Winch  and diamond plate floor available.

Numerous spares, support equipment and special tooling are available with the aircraft.

 

This aircraft is available, $150,000 with trades encouraged. Delivery and training is available. The aircraft is currently in the original Navy Arctic colors of black fuselage and red tips, nose  and tail  plus epoxy primer. The aircraft is ready for repainting.
