Woburn, Mass.-based Teffafugia Inc. said Monday (April 2) that its prototype flying car has completed its first flight, bringing the company closer to its goal of selling within the next year. The “Transition” has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car.
If you are ready to invest the $279,000 expected to be the cost of the vehicle, keep in mind you will need to pass a test and complete 20 hours of flying time to be able to fly the Transition. Also, the fuel consumption for the 23-gallon tank (which uses automotive fuel) will be about 5 gallons per hour in the air and 35 miles per gallon on the road. Ready to buy?
