The Bell 206 is a series of two bladed single or dual engine helicopters. Bell Helicopter Textron initially manufactured the helicopter for the United States Army part of the light observation helicopter program. The Bell 206 failed to be chosen and Bell later redesigned the aircraft and was marketed as the Bell 206 Jet Ranger. The redesigned model was than selected by our Army as the OH-58 Kiowa. Bell than later designed the 206 with a new dual engine which was known as the Twin Ranger. The aircrafts first flight was in December of 1962 and was introduced to the aviation market in 1967. was also introduced to the aviation market in 1967.There have been over 7,300 Bell 206 Jet Ranger built between the years of 1967-2010. The aircraft cost varied between 900K to 1.2M. The Bell 206 initial production version was powered by an Allison 250-C18 turboshaft engine. A variant of the first 206,the 206B-3 used a crew of one had could carry four passengers. The length of the helicopter was almost forty feet and had an empty weight of 1,713 pounds. This aircraft can fly at 139 mph and has a range of 374 miles.
